This year has ended with a BANG and I am thrilled for 2016! Many life changes have occurred this year from graduating with my second degree and minor, getting engaged, buying my first car, having eye surgery and the list goes on. However, getting my own classroom will stick with me the most. I have dreamed of having my own classroom since I was a young girl.
I am excited that I will be a grade 6 teacher and work with some amazing students and educators in the Surrey School District. Although this will be a challenging journey with a winter break that awaits me to unit plan, I see this year as an opportunity. The opportunity will be to learn and grow as an educator. Things may not go as perfectly as I expect, but I am willing to have days where I fall and get back up. Remember that with every opportunity come positive and negative days. I want to model this to my future classroom. In order to succeed we must takes risks and be vulnerable. Courage and compassion must take the lead before fear and negative thoughts.
I would like to dedicate this blog to many mentors in my life who have taught me more then a Brene Brown book could teach me. Thank you for showing me that it is ok to fail and take risks and be vulnerable. I would not be the person I am today without you as my mentors!
If any educators would like to collaborate over the Winter Break feel free to contact me! Or if you would like to share a neat lesson/unit idea for a grade 6 classroom :)
